Story

Elmgrove Pottery, began over four years ago in an art class—just for fun. What started as a casual exploration soon grew into a deep passion and a clear artistic vision. With each piece, the drive to test, learn, and create grew stronger, fueled by curiosity and the support of an incredible artistic community.

Now, after years of dedication, I’m thrilled to begin sharing the culmination of that hard work with you.

From childhood crafts at the kitchen table, planting myself firmly in the arts and crafts section during every library visit, followed by years of artistic study, creativity has always been my compass. Pottery became my true north—a medium that felt like home. Now rooted in the West Seattle artist community, I strive to create decorative pieces that are evocative the duality between strength and beauty.

The Journey

  • Throwing Time

    Our journey begins at the wheel. Before the clay starts spinning, let’s visualize - what are we making? What steps do we need to take to achieve that shape? Now your prepared…it’s pedal to the metal time!

  • Trim Me Up Buttercup

    Checking the pots… still wet. Checking again, and now they’re leather hard, lets start trimming. Just like with throwing lets visualize what the final form will look like. Next we’ll place the piece and make sure it’s secure on the wheel. Double checking we’re secure… lets go!

  • Slide, Slide, Slipity-Slide

    We’ve got our design on the transfer paper, now let’s wet the pot and position the design. Lift the paper and voila! you’re ready to start slipping. Slipping the design work is a slow process. Slow steady movements, slow steady breathing.

  • Bisque Bisque Bish

    Once bone dry we’re headed to the kiln for the bisque fire.

  • Gettin' Glazy Wit It

    Glazing is an even slower process than slipping. Each color of glaze must be laid down individually in their appropriate areas. More slow and careful movements. Also breathing… don’t forget to breath.

  • Set Fire to the Pots

    We made it! Into the kiln she goes for a final firing and fingers crossed that the final product turns out. Nothing left to do but wait and see.
